Jericho

I’ve been meaning to write more about Jericho, and now I have the impetus to do so: one of Jericho’s creators, Jon Turtelaub, says in a SCI FI Wire interview, that the goal of Jericho is to explore how different characters react in a crisis.

Jericho’s been doing pretty well. It’s gotten a full season pickup. CNN describes it as a breakout hit. I’m watching it every week, and yet I’m hesitant to say that I’m enjoying it.

Jericho

As I mentioned a while back, Jericho is a new TV show on CBS which starts with the folks in an isolated town called Jericho, in Kansas, getting cut off from the rest of the world and seeing a mushroom cloud on the horizon, in Denver’s direction.

They had me at “mushroom cloud”. Whether they manage to keep me depends on how the storyline progresses.

Salon: CBS’s “Jericho” Brings Us the Sweet Nectar of the Apocalypse, At Long Last!

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Salon has a nice article anticipating “Jericho”, which starts this week on CBS. The writeup is perhaps a little too concerned with Skeet Ulrich’s potential abs, but is well worth watching the ad in order to read if you don’t already have a Salon subscription.

Jericho

JerichoThe world will end at 8PM on September 20th on CBS, with the start of their new show Jericho. Set in a small town in Kansas, the series opens with mushroom clouds on the horizon and apparently the show’s drama derives from the town not knowing what happened or if they’re the only ones left alive. Me, I’d probably head out and try to figure out what’s up, but maybe no one in Jericho is up to that. Talk on the Internet teases that there may be more going on than meets the eye, a la Lost… but then every network wants to have a Lost on its hands.

Jerichostars Skeet Ulrich, whose last TV outing was (I believe) Miracles, also an apocalyptic show revolving around a message the main character sees in his own blood, which may be read as God is now here or God is nowhere. Jehrico also stars Gerald McRaney, Deadwood’s own villain Hearst, as the town’s mayor.
