Jericho Finale Tonight

Jericho

Jericho, the little post-apocalyptic drama that could, winds up tonight, at least in theory. CBS has cancelled it a second time and this time I think that no amount of peanuts will get a reprieve.

Goodbye, Jericho…

Friday, March 21st, 2008

…I don’t think that all the peanuts in the world will save you this time.

[note to folks who campaign to keep TV shows on the air: you have to actually watch them!]

Is Jericho Coming or Going?

The Post-Apocalyptic Jericho United States Flag

Jericho is back, with conflicting reports as to its health. On the bright side, Ain’t It Cool News reports that Jericho had a strong debut, easily improving on the ratings of ‘Cane’, which it is replacing. On the dark side, IO9 described Jericho’s ratings as average and not strong enough to get it a third season renewal. It seems a little early to tell; if the show is profitable and CBS doesn’t think they can do better with an unknown show, it could easily be renewed.

Jericho Season One Finale: Why We Fight

Jericho, rescued from oblivion by a fan-driven campaign that shipped 40,445 pounds of peanuts to CBS in protest of the show’s cancellation, is finally returning to the air in less than a day to begin its abbreviated seven episode second season.

Life After People

The History Channel's "Life After People"

I usually expect that The History Channel will run shows about… you know… history… things that have come before. But honestly, I couldn’t tell you the last time I watched something on it, so for all I know it’s running shows about stuff that hasn’t happened yet all the time.

In this case, it’s running a 2 hour special called “Life After People”, which is about what happens to the world if all the people are gone. Which, last I checked, hadn’t happened yet, so that’s why I’m making comments about things that haven’t happened yet.

Jericho Returns in February

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

CBS has announced the schedule for the seven new episodes of Jericho. They’ll air on Tuesdays, starting February 12th, at 10PM. That should keep them out of American Idol’s way and give them some chance of success. Normally February is “sweeps month”, when ratings count the most for the networks and advertising rates are set; with the writer’s strike and lack of new shows for this February I have no idea if that will still hold.

In the meantime, Jericho Sesason one is out on DVD and available for download via iTunes and also for download to your Windows computer, supported mobile device, or networked Series 2 or Series 3/HD Tivo via Amazon Unbox.

Jericho Speculation

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I imagine that at this point you’re aware of the writer’s strike which is affecting television and eventually movie production. The first impact from the strike has been late night television and soap operas, but prime time TV will also be feeling it soon as shows run out of new episodes to air.

Great Price on Millennium DVDs

Images
Millennium was one of my favorite TV shows. Ever.

Dealing in apocalyptic themes, secular and religious, the show follows the life of Frank Black (played perfectly by Lance Henriksen), a former FBI agent who left the Bureau after a breakdown. Frank Black sees flashes through the killer’s eyes. He’s now working for the secretive Millennium Group, which employs several former FBI agents, and living in Seattle with his wife and daughter.

Babylon Fields

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

The new TV season this year hasn’t brought much in the way of surprises, but last year’s held a few notable winners (like “Heroes”), and for a while it looked like CBS was really going outside its normal comfort shows with shows like the nuclear apocalyptic “Jericho” and a zombie-themed show called “Babylon Fields”, which unfortunately never got past shooting a pilot episode. “Babylon Fields” received a good bit of press but little was revealed about the actual story, and only a few photos managed to make it out.
