Breaking News: World Ends Today!

The actual House of Yahweh

I haven’t been writing much for the apocablog recently because, well, it’s just too damned depressing. It’s easy to veer from a light-hearted look at the end of the world into bird flu, climate change, energy depletion and other serious issues that deserve some attention.

But if there’s ever a topic deserving of no attention at all, it’s good old ‘Yisrayl Hawkins” from Abilene Texas. Hawkins was the subject of one of my first Apocalypse Blog posts - Coming to You from the House of Yaweh in Abilene, Texas: Nucular War on September 12 - when he predicted with some certainty that the world would end in nuclear fire on September 12 - 2006.

He should’ve thrown in some apes for good measure.

He’s back! This time the world is ending today! Make sure you wear your raincoat!

What we missed last time around was that he requires his followers to buy end-of-the-world-supplies through his company “Life Nutrition Products”.

Oh yeah… good one.

So far it’s a beautiful day! I’ll post again as soon as I notice it begin to rain nukes.

The Mayan Apocalypse - You Know, for Kids

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

The director of “Failure to Launch”, which I once watched on a bus because my laptop’s battery was dead, has signed to direct a “family action-adventure film” called “2012″, for Nickelodeon. The film is about a family which goes on vacation during the Mayan apocalypse in December, 2012.

2012: The Book, the Movie

Monday, March 19th, 2007

First, you should know that Whitley Strieber has a book coming out in September 2007, a book so new, so … so secret! … that it doesn’t even have a cover up on Amazon yet. The book is 2012: The War for Souls.

The basic premise of the book is that a scientist finds that there are Earths in multiple dimensions and that in 2012, they’ll all be destroyed - Mayan prophecy style.

Evangelicals Feast on One Another’s Souls over Global Warming

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Apparently global warming is causing sharp divisions in the National Association of Evangelicals, with some feeling that it distracts from “great moral issues of our time”, some feeling that “to harm this world by environmental degradation is an offense against God”, and some feeling that it’s part of a leftist agenda to divide evangelical unity (because, after all, everything is about them).

Six-legged cow probably heralds apocalypse

Six-Legged Cow

Columbia has a six-legged cow, with two vaginas, six nipples and two vaginas. It might be the coming of the dual-vaginaed bovine often prohpesized as a harbinger of the end of the world. Whatever it is, Metro.co.uk is more concerned about its vagina-count than its numerous legs. And don’t forget - it has two vaginas!

York Minster's Great East Window

“The Great East Window” is a stained glass window in York Minster in the UK which depicts the apocalypse, including a literal mouth of hell with jaws and fangs. It also has the dragon and beast being worshipped, armageddon, and - what apocalyptic stained glass window would be complete without the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

The Rapture… Index…

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

There’s so much material at http://www.raptureready.com/ that it’s hard to know where to begin.

Let’s start with the Rapture Index… this is wonderful… it’s a number that indicates how close we are to the Rapture. As of January 8, it’s at 162. It peaked at 182 on September 24th, 2001; it was at its lowest on December 12th 1993. It’s composed by summing together various weighted factors like “False Christs”, “Unemployment”, “Apostasy”, “Anti-Semitism”, “Gog (Russia)”, “Liberalism”, “Beast Government”, and “Wild Weather”.

Nobody Loves Left Behind: Eternal Forces

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

The latest review I’ve seen has the reviewer so bored with the game that he quit before even encountering a Level 5 Horned Demon. One new bit of news to me: you can apparently play as the Anti-Christ but you cannot win if you do.
