Whatever Shall I Wear to the End of the World?
Thursday, March 27th, 2008Should it be functional or fashionable? Should it say “survivor” or “apocalypse fashion victim”? Should it carry a message?

It’s the End of the World as We Know It
And I feel fine...
Should it be functional or fashionable? Should it say “survivor” or “apocalypse fashion victim”? Should it carry a message?

Jericho, the little post-apocalyptic drama that could, winds up tonight, at least in theory. CBS has cancelled it a second time and this time I think that no amount of peanuts will get a reprieve.

…I don’t think that all the peanuts in the world will save you this time.
[note to folks who campaign to keep TV shows on the air: you have to actually watch them!]

Neil Marshall (known for the horror films "Dog Soldiers" and "The Descent") has a new film out today, which I’ve written about a couple of times: the appropriately named “Doomsday”.
In 2037, thirty years after Scotland was sealed off to contain a plague, Bob Hoskins sends Rhona Mitra back into Scotland in order to try to find the cure, as the disease has recurred outside. In the process she encounters Malcolm McDowell, doing a turn as Colonel Kurtz (but not o be too obvious, his character is named “Kane” instead of “Kurtz”).

Teller: actor, magician, painter, writer, stage partner of Penn Jillette. Officially single-named. Not actually mute.
And now - zombie apocalypse survivor.
Teller has released a brief video showing his life after the zombie apocalypse that destroys Las Vegas (presumably this time, what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas).
And if you’ve never heard him speak before, Teller has a very nice voice. [See the video after the cut]
