Jericho, rescued from oblivion by a fan-driven campaign that shipped 40,445 pounds of peanuts to CBS in protest of the show’s cancellation, is finally returning to the air in less than a day to begin its abbreviated seven episode second season.

At least, seven episodes seemed short but with the writer’s strike cutting into most TV shows this season, having a complete, albeit short, season shot and ready to run puts it ahead of almost all other TV shows out there.

Having only seven episodes will hopefully also help tighten the storyline, as Jericho’s first season suffered from too many post-nuclear-apocalypse episodes of townies acting like nothing much happened, before things finally started to happen in the second half of the season.

To celebrate Jericho’s return, Amazon is offering the first season finale, “Why We Fight” (which has the reference to “nuts” that spawned the campaign that saved the show) as a free download. You purchase it for free, download it to a Windows computer, a Series 2 or later networked Tivo, or Windows Media-compatible mobile device, and then watch it when you want. You can also download it again later if you please.
