Pinguinera de Isla Laurie

Not the temporal end of the world but the spatial one… these are some amazing photos taken by Amado Becquer Casaballe in Antarctica, at the literal end of the world. Casabelle spent a month on an Argentine icebreaker to visit a research base in Antarctica. His photographs are simply stunning.

Neil Marshall's Doomsday

I’ve written about Neil Marshall’s new film, “Doomsday”, a few times before. Marshall brings with him a good resume of genre films: “Dog Soldiers” and “The Descent”, which leaves many people anticipating his new bigger budget, bigger concept film “Doomsday”.

Friday, January 4th, 2008

When the world ends, what skills will you have that will make other people want to keep you around?

Can you build things? Weld? Heal people? Cook? Grow food? Are you a sharp-shooter? Will you merely be the pregnant one, who people will keep around because you’ll be the mother to the new race of surviving humans, assuming that you don’t give birth to some kind of zombie monster baby?

Or are you destined for the soup pot?

The Post-Apocalyptic Workout is one unemployed (presumably striking) TV writer’s attempt to get herself into survivability shape.
