Remember the recent post about So Much for the Killer Bees? Here’s a followup.

The problem seems to be worse than previously reported; beekeepers are reporting up to 70 percent losses in Texas and the east coast, and 30 to 60 percent losses on the west coast. The bees just fly off and never come home.

A third of our food crops depend on pollination by bees, so this is a serious issue. Thus far I’ve only found references to it happening in the US, and not Asia or Europe, so it’s probably not cosmic rays… maybe the good little Christian American bees are ascending bodily to heaven?

(in my defense, the Treehugger article I’m referencing does indeed use the word “rapture” at one point… so deal with it!)
