They Think About the End of the World in Iceland, Too

iceland

Even in Iceland they think about doomsday… the end of the world… zombie attacks. Bird flu. Although apparently they may be well prepared for bird flu as certain cod enzymes may kill the virus. They won’t help with the zombies, though. You might think that Iceland would be proof against zombies, being an island and all, but it didn’t fare well in “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War”.

It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything about Jericho. I wonder how its hiatus will affect its viewership.

Canadian Flag

People don’t talk much these days about the old idea of Quebec leaving Canada and becoming part of New England… now the Toronto Star projects forward to 2020 when New England leaves the United States and joins Canada, propelled by the conservatism of the south and Canadian dissatisfaction.

End Time for the Internet

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Back when I still went to IETF meetings and Interop shows, I once ran a panel discussion that included a talk from Dave Clark about Internet Creation Myths. Dave told a fantastic story of the creation myth of the Internet, which I’ve always regretted wasn’t recorded.

Alas, it’s not… it’s the group of people who maintain the the Doomsday Clock, which today they moved forward by 2 minutes in recognition of the possibility of catastrophic, civilization-ending change stemming from human technology. The clock now stands at five minutes to midnight.

Six-legged cow probably heralds apocalypse

Six-Legged Cow

Columbia has a six-legged cow, with two vaginas, six nipples and two vaginas. It might be the coming of the dual-vaginaed bovine often prohpesized as a harbinger of the end of the world. Whatever it is, Metro.co.uk is more concerned about its vagina-count than its numerous legs. And don’t forget - it has two vaginas!

Bleak Future

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Skullring.org brings us a review of the post-apocalyptic film ‘Bleak Future’. The film concerns the adventures of a post-apocalyptic traveling salesman and his associates as they search for “The Source”. Skullring describes the film as Pythonesque, as do Amazon and Netflix; it looks like an unusual take on the post-apocalyptic norm.
